It’s an honour to have Ibu Yuseva Wardhana
to deliver her thoughts and valuable experience in her academic career
from A to Z in front of more or less 90 students of PBI UMBY. She
started her story by telling us the background of her family, the moment
which made her finally choose English Language Education Study Program
and the struggles that she had in order to survive in college.
In this session, Ibu Yuseva told us that her interest in reading short
stories and novels has given her so many benefits that eventually also
helped her to reach her academic goals. Besides, she also stated that
she became more critical thinker and paid attention to the details.
Another advantage that she got was vocabulary improvement. She shared some tricks on how to be a better reader and how to choose the right book. One of the tricks is using 5 fingers rule. All of the participants were so enthusiastic in listening to her presentation. Ibu Yuseva gave some graded readers to students who gave and could answer some questions. .
One of the Extensive Reading enthusiast, Ibu Lanoke, one of Pendidikan Bahasa Arab lecturers from UMY also attended this event and she also shared some positive stories about her ideas on reading activities with us.
At the end of the event, Ibu Elysa
Hartati, M.Pd,. the chairperson of PBI UMBY, gave a token of
appreciation to Ibu Yuseva. Surprisingly, Ibu Yuseva has prepared some
graded readers and some books that she published and gave them for free
to PBI UMBY. We were so grateful with this!
Thank you, Ibu Yuseva for your time and valuable experience that you shared with us despite your very tight schedule. Good luck for your study in the U.S. and let’s cherish Literacy Movement together. Cheers!
